INDIANAPOLIS (Jun. 12, 2017) – 2016 Kokomo Speedway Track Champion, Kevin Thomas Jr., scored back to back victories at the Speedway, with his most recent win during the USAC Indiana Midget Week finale. Thomas pounded the cushion for 25 laps in last night’s thrilling sprint car main event.
“I love winning at Kokomo Speedway,” said Thomas. “I have to thank Mike Gass and the whole crew for giving me the opportunity. Dave Gass told me that Kokomo is where he first started watching sprint cars and really fell in love with the sport. I’m glad to get him a win at a place he and the whole team enjoys so much.”
With a pair of bookend wins at Kokomo Speedway, Thomas has captured four wins in the last eight days. Three of those victories won during the sprint car portion of Indiana Midget week. Thomas parked the Mike Gass Racing No.17 in the winner’s circle twice, with wins at Gas City Speedway and Kokomo Speedway. The third win was scored in Thomas’s family owned machine. The KT Motorsports/Abreu Vineyards/Pace Performance Coatings No.44 also won at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday night.
“It’s really incredible to win four times in a week,” explained Thomas. “So many people have helped me put this together and given me opportunities. “I have to thank my wife and family for putting up with me, and to Robert Brown Jr., Brad Alexander, and Blade Kearns for being an amazing crew. I also want to thank David Abreu. He’s helped me several different times and I’m proud to get three wins in front of him with this name on the side of the car. This is great momentum heading in to Eastern Storm with the USAC guys this week.”
The Alabama native has a total of seven victories this season in four different machines, across two forms of sprint car racing. Thomas heads to Pennsylvania for five nights of USAC National Sprint Car competition during the Eastern Storm events.
