INDIANAPOLIS (Jun. 5, 2017) – Kody Swanson dominated Saturday nights A-main feature event at Waynesfield Raceway Park. The California native bagged his second win in the K&L Racing No.21K, and catapulted to victory lane with a four second lead over second and third place finishers, Kyle Simon and Dallas Hewitt.

“We had a really good car tonight,” said Swanson. “I always enjoy racing with Kent and everyone on this No.21K team. Everyone really works hard to do
their part, and tonight it paid off. This track is a lot of fun to race on, and I’m thankful to have been the guy in the seat tonight.”

The K&L Racing No. 21K qualified 5th out of 23 entries. Swanson lined up third in his heat race and quickly threw a slider on Dallas Hewitt through turns 1 and 2 to take over the second spot. Dry-slick track conditions had the top 4 cars all running the cushion. With two laps remaining, Swanson moved to the bottom through turns 3&4, and started to real in the leader. Making the bottom work, Swanson would make a last lap pass on Dustin Ingle for the lead, to win by a nose at the checkers.

With an invert of 3, that last lap pass in the heat race earned Swanson a front row starting position for the main event. A caution on the initial start would regroup the field for a complete restart. In the opening laps Kyle Simon held the early lead around the bottom, while Swanson began to push the top groove higher and higher working to build momentum. By the fourth circuit, Swanson had pulled back alongside Kyle Simon for the lead. With the top groove coming in nicely, Swanson began to pull away as he entered lapped traffic near the halfway point.

The No.21K was strong getting through lapped traffic, as Swanson continued to build his lead. In the final 10 laps, Swanson was more conservative to make sure he made it to the finish, after picking up a vibration. Swanson lapped up to 11th place, solidifying his fourth win of the season, and third victory in a sprint car.
