Macedo Scores Midget Win at Ventura

INDIANAPOLIS (Oct. 30, 2017) – In his first midget start this season, Carson Macedo scored his first midget victory of the 2017 season. Piloting the Josh Ford Motorsports No.73x entry, Macedo took the lead early, fell back to third mid-race, and regained the lead once again, claiming his 12th victory of the year.

“It’s pretty cool to jump in a midget for the first time this year and immediately get a win,” explained Macedo. “I got the lead pretty quick, but about halfway through the race I jumped the cushion getting into turn one and fell back to third. I calmed down, and started hitting the bottom really well. We had some good late race restarts, and I was able to get the lead back.”

The 2016 USAC National Series Midget Rookie of the Year, timed the JFM entry in the third position. Macedo won the heat race from the 4th starting position, after a last lap pass to get by Frankie Guerrrini. With an invert of zero, Macedo would start second row inside. He then fended off David Prickett and Ronnie Gardner to take the win.

“I enjoy running for the Ford’s and Jimmy May,” state Macedo. “Jimmy always gives me a good car. I guess this was a good test for Turkey Night at the end of November. I’m thankful JFM is giving me the opportunity. There’s a $50,000 bonus on the line for winning both divisions, so that definitely makes it more interesting.”

Macedo and Josh Ford Motorsports plan to team up once again this year during the USAC National Turkey Night Grand Prix, where he will be piloting the JFM No.73x in both the midget and non-wing sprint car portions of the event.
