INDIANAPOLIS (Apr. 24, 2017) – The 4th Annual Peter Murphy Classic proved successful for the driver of the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21x, Carson Macedo. Macedo would chase Bud Kaeding to the finish line during Saturday night’s $11,000 –to–win feature event, only to come up one spot short finishing second.

“I had a solid car all weekend,” said Macedo. “We started 15th on Friday, got up to 4th, and then had a really bad restart and I fell back to 9th. Saturday was better. Took a couple laps to get around Brent Kaeding, who was lapped. Once I finally got to Bud I saw the white flag and knew I didn’t have enough laps to get to him. Paul Baines and the Tarlton car were outstanding all weekend.”

The two-night event at the famed Thunderbowl Raceway is planned by retired racer & fan-favorite Peter Murphy. This particular weekend has become of the most esteemed events on the California racing circuit over the last several years. Friday’s portion would set the stage for the third round of action for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards, while the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series featured Saturday’s finale.

Macedo would qualify 21st out of the 51 entries for the opening night of the Peter Murphy Classic at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the event. Starting 3rd in the heat race and finishing 4th would send him to the Semi feature where he would start 10th. Finishing 2nd in the Semi qualified Macedo for the main event. He would roll off the grid in the 15th position, eventually working his way up to earn his 12th top ten of the season, finishing 9th.

Saturday nights action would bring improved results during the King of the West/ Northern Auto Club Racing event. Macedo qualified 3rd overall in group two of a split qualifying format. From a 3rd place starting position in his heat to finishing 2nd, Macedo would transfer directly into the main event. The Lemoore, California driver would capture another podium finish for the Tarlton Motorsports machine, finishing second.

Macedo heads back East for World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series action at Plymouth Speedway (Plymouth, Indiana) on Friday, April 28th, Tri-State Speedway (Haubstadt, Indiana) on Saturday, April 29th, before he heads to Terre Haute Action Track (Terre Haute, Indiana) on Sunday, April 30th, switching gears to non-wing sprint car racing with the Midwest Sprint Car Series (MSCS).
