INDIANAPOLIS (Sep. 19, 2017) – Tucker Klaasmeyer posted his season best finish with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League over the weekend at Southern Illinois Raceway, with a second-place finish in his BOSS Chassis/ Toyota Racing/ WCI Inc. No.27. Klaasmeyer claimed “high point guy” honors after charging his way from the seventh starting position in his heat race.
“It’s hard enough to get a win, much less a win with Christopher Bell in the field,” explained Klaasmeyer. “We all know when he shows up it’s going to be tough, but overall I think it makes us better. Bell rarely makes mistakes, and when he does, I make one right behind him. When you’re trying to catch someone, you’re working hard, and giving it 110%.”
Klaasmeyer started on the pole of the feature, and fought off a hard charging Christopher Bell. Bell would eventually take over the race lead, but Klaasmeyer would hold on to the second spot for the remainder of the race, fending off Clauson-Marshall’s, Zeb Wise, who finished third, Logan Seavey – fourth, and Jake Neuman rounding out the top five.
“We didn’t have Flea (Ruzic) with us, so we all had to pull our heads together tonight,” commented Klaasmeyer. “I wish he could’ve been there. Flea makes things fun no matter what, but it was nice to know we could still get a strong finish without him. Austin, Corey, and Tommy gave me a great race car to drive. This is really positive momentum heading to Belle-Clair. That’s one of my favorite tracks. We haven’t been there all year, and I hope it’s on the fence.”
Klaasmeyer and the No.27 team will be competing in back-to-back events at Belle-Clair Speedway September 29th and 30th with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.
Tucker Klaasmeyer would like to thank the following sponsors: Boss Chassis, Toyota Racing, WCI Inc., Sparco Racing Suits, and Bell Helmets.
