Johnson Wins Big at Jackson Motorplex

INDIANAPOLIS (Jun. 12, 2018) – During Saturday’s 305 portion of the 40th Annual AGCO Jackson Nationals, Kaleb Johnson found himself in victory lane for the first time this season. After leading 19 of 20 laps in the previous night’s feature event, and finishing second, Johnson charged from a 15th place starting position to finish one spot better on the final night of the Jackson Nationals.

“After leading 19 of the 20 laps the night before, it made this one feel so much better,” commented Johnson. “Our goal going into the weekend was to put ourselves in contention to finish on the podium both nights, so this was just a bigger bonus. My guys worked their butts off and gave me a great race car all weekend.”

Starting deep in a stout 305 class, Johnson worked his way through the field on the bottom of the racing surface, making up ground passing quality cars who were running the high line. By lap 16, Johnson had secured second place behind then leader Trevor Serbus, but by the next revolution Johnson had taken over the lead, scoring his first win of 2018 over second-place Trevor Serbus, and third-place finisher Brant O’Banion.

“To be able to say we won the Jackson Nationals from 15th is such a surreal feeling, especially with how competitive the 305 class is getting,” explained Johnson. “This was one of the biggest wins of my career, and to do it on such a big stage was huge for our race team. We hope to keep our momentum rolling throughout the rest of the year.”

This was Johnson’s 4th career sprint car win at Jackson Motorplex, and his first on the newly configured 4/10ths mile. Johnson is behind the wheel of his family owned 305 sprinter this weekend at Jackson Motorplex, Eagle Raceway, and Clay County Fair Speedway. For a full schedule and results visit
