INDIANAPOLIS (May 16, 2018) – In the wake of a short hiatus from the Western Metal Company No.37 team, Mitchell Faccinto has secured not one, but two rides for the 5th Annual Peter Murphy Classic at Tulare Thunderbowl. Friday night during the Sprint Car Challenge Tour portion of the event, you can find Faccinto behind the wheel of the Nick McColloch owned No.17.
“With the No.37 team being down for a while, I’m thankful I get the opportunity to drive these two cars that are both capable of winning races,” explained Faccinto. “I really can’t thank Nick McColloch, and that whole crew enough. This is really cool event, and hopefully we’ll go get a win.”
During the King of the West NARC Winged 410 Sprint Cars for Saturday’s program, Faccinto will be wheeling the CS9 Chassis, Rick Bray owned No.9s, with help from “Shifter,” Landon Hurst.
“We just put together to the No.9s deal a few days ago,” commented Faccinto. “I have to thank Landon Hurst for supplying the engine, and Rick Bray for the chance to drive his car. I’m looking forward to putting the No.9s up front, and maybe doubling up on wins. That’d be pretty cool.”
About the Peter Murphy Classic (from petermurphyclassic.com): On July 20, 2013 the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series had one of its toughest nights, when popular driver Peter Murphy suffered injuries during a main event crash at the Antioch Speedway. The result of the accident ultimately forced Murphy to retire from Sprint Car racing as a driver.
Despite that however, he has said time & time again that he has no ill feelings towards the sport. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find someone that has a bigger passion for the sport of Sprint Car racing than Peter Murphy. With that in mind the last four season’s he has worked extremely hard to put on the Peter Murphy Classic at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway.
Since Peter Murphy was one of the most versatile drivers of our generation it’s only fitting that for his Classic there will be Winged and Non-Wing cars involved in his Honor…
