Faccinto Bounces Back at Petaluma After Injury
INDIANAPOLIS (Jul. 18, 2017) – The eldest of Faccintos, Michael, put the MF Motorsports/ CP-Carrillo/SPIKE/Chevy in victory lane Saturday evening at Petaluma Speedway during USAC/BCRA midget action.
Faccinto started 7th on a heavy racetrack, and was able to get a solid run early in the race, to find himself in the top 3 with 21 laps remaining. The Hanford, California native, made quick moves on the second-place car taking over the spot and setting his sights on the leader. Faccinto passed Ronnie Gardner for the lead, after Gardner’s machine biked up, allowing Faccinto to take over the top spot.
“This team really needed this,” explained Faccinto. “We’ve had fast racecars, but we just haven’t been able to finish off a race. I knew I had to make a move on Ronnie (Gardner) on the restart to have a chance at the lead. Ronnie ended up biking the car, and we got by and held on for the win. It feels good to get to victory lane at Petaluma. I felt like this place owed me one after the last time we were here.”
Faccinto, who suffered a concussion and a bruised shoulder in a recent accident at Petaluma, rebounded nicely after a two-week recovery scoring his first win of the season.
Marysville, California is next up on the schedule for Faccinto, as he and the No.35 team return to BCRA Midget competition July 22nd.
Michael Faccinto and MF Motorsports would like to thank the following sponsors: Kasiner Farms, Keizer Wheels, CP-Carrillo, Lucas Oil, OZV Winery, Old Soul, Keizer Wheels, Sala Racing, SPIKE Chassis, and FK Shocks – Indy.
