Faccinto 2nd in Oregon Speedweek Points

INDIANAPOLIS (Jul. 18, 2017) – Mitchell Faccinto ended up 2nd in overall points after a successful week with the ASCS Northwest Region series during Oregon Speedweek. The week didn’t come without struggles, however. Faccinto was looking at all top five finishes for the week before part failures. A DNF at Willamette Speedway, due to a muffle coming off while running third, and a rear-end coming apart while running second during the first night at Cottage Grove Speedway, would get Faccinto down. In six night’s consecutive nights of racing, Faccinto posted three podium finishes, alongside a top five.

“I’m very pleased with our results from the week,” said Faccinto. “We ran well every single night. Even on the nights where something happened we were still in contention for the win, so that’s encouraging. Of course, I would have like to win the points, but with two DNF’s I’m satisfied with where we ended up. My guys had the car on point all week, and I’m very grateful for a good crew that gives me fast cars each night.

Faccinto started 3rd in the main event at Yreka. He was able to take over the 2nd spot, but then engine issue ensued, and resulted in a second-place finish. A 5th place starting position at Coos Bay end with a podium finish. Faccinto took a few shots at leader, Kyle Hirst, but didn’t have enough laps to make the pass. Willamette Speedway was a tough night for the driver of the Western Metal Company No.37. Faccinto was running in the third position for the first half of the feature event before losing a muffler, resulting in a DNF. After a rough start to the night, Faccinto salvaged a 4th place finish at Sunset Banks Speedway after starting 9th. The first night at Cottage Grove Speedway was disappointing posting a DNF after the rear-end came apart, while running second. He would bounce back during night two at Cottage Grove with a third-place podium finish.

The Hanford, California native returns to Sprint Car Challenge Tour competition at Fernley 95A Speedway July 29th.

Mitchell Faccinto and Stan Greenberg would like to thank the following sponsors: Western Metal Company, TSG Recycling, I.H. Greenberg, and Simpson Race Products.
