INDIANAPOLIS (May. 8, 2017) – Over the weekend, Snohomish, Washington native, Chance Crum won not only the 600cc micro sprint feature at Deming Speedway, but also found victory lane in the focus midget series. Crum blasted the cushion around the top in both feature events to take home wins in his family owned Crum Racing No. 83c, as well as the Thompson Motorsports No.41.
“I’ve raced multiple cars in one night before, but this was my first time getting two wins in one night,” commented Crum. “This is very special to me. Both crew chiefs, my dad (Kevin Crum) and Mike Thompson, nailed the setup for the two cars. They made my job easy, and both were a pleasure to drive.”
Crum qualified 2nd in the Northwest Focus Midget Series time trials, and battled his way to a 3rd place finish in the heat race. Starting on the outside front row in the feature, Crum remained in second place for the first half of the race, before overtaking the top spot from Tristin Thomas.
The night got off to a slow start in the 600cc micro sprint, ending up 18th in practice. Adjustments were made, and the Crum Racing No.83c produced a lap time good enough for 5th quick in qualifying. Moving forward in the heat race, starting third and finishing second, Crum earned yet another outside front row starting spot. The micro veteran lead every lap of the race, scoring his second main event win of the night.
“The track conditions were great,” explained Crum. “For each of the main events, Paul Lemley gave us a really nice slick track. It went all the way up to a cushion on the wall, and it’s really fun to race when the tracks like that. Deming Speedway is owned and operated by great people, and racing there is always a good time.”
Crum is set to return to his home track of Deming Speedway this coming weekend for more 600cc micro sprint action. You can find Crum’s full schedule at ChanceCrumRacing.com.
